3 More Weeks Until Summer…..

There are only three more weeks until summer and each day just seems to be going by slower and slower. For my last blog post of the school year, I decided to fill you in on the plans I am looking forward to this summer; first being Spanish classes. Next week I will begin taking Spanish 101 and I am excited to become more familiar with the language. I wasn’t too happy to discover it happens during the summer, but I think it will be very beneficial.

Secondly, I am excited to be working at the ESPY gifting lounge for my internship with Luxury Experience and Co. It will be taking place on July 9th and we have already begun sending emails to brands and getting in contact with talent. The Coachella event was so successful so I can’t wait to see what they have planned for this one!

After school gets out, I will also be starting work at the Beach House. I am really looking forward to being able to see all their new clothes, meet new people, and spend time with my brother. This is the first summer I am able to drive so I am excited to have that freedom as well. Finally, my family will be moving back to the south so I will spend time helping my parents pack up the house, take care of all of the animals, and get settled into a brand-new home. I am eager to be somewhere new and get the opportunity to meet a bunch of people, but I am definitely nervous about what the future holds. I will be beginning cross country in the fall so this will be a great opportunity to connect with others.

As I am getting ready to leave the west coast many people ask me, “Are you sad to leave?” Truthfully, I love how beautiful California is, but nothing compares to me than being surrounded by southern people. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend the last two years in California. It has been such an amazing experience for my family and I and I have learned many new things, but it is time for a new chapter! Hope everyone has a great summer!

Internship

What is it like interning for a PR-Firm?

For those of you who don’t know, Public Relations is the professional maintenance of a favorable public image by a company or other organization or a famous person. After having the opportunity to work behind the scenes at a fashion show in New York City, I realized I had a love and passion for business. I had always been fascinated by PR work, so I decided to apply for an internship with Luxury Experience and Co. I was overjoyed when I found out that I had been selected! My first event took place at the Pre-Oscars Gifting Lounge at the Loews Hollywood Hotel. My first task was to represent High Beauty Skincare line at the event. Immediately, I raced to my phone to find the inside scoop on the brand. I informed the talent about the product along with the amazing results of using it. I then gave them two products from the company, a face oil and a moisturizer, and snapped a quick photo of them. I loved my role at this event because it gave me the opportunity to use my speaking skills, something I enjoy doing, I got to socialize and talk with others, and I loved that it was a skincare/beauty brand.

The second event I got the opportunity to work at occurred last weekend, Coachella. I was so excited to find out she would be hosting a gifting suite at Coachella because I had always dreamed of going to it. Weeks in advance for the event, I learned how to create the invite list for the party, how to create the talent sheet for each of the brands, and got to post Instagram stories featuring each of the brands on their account. The event took place at a house in Palm Springs. It was beautifully decorated; the backyard consisting of each brand centered around a swimming pool. My first task when I arrived here was to help blow up floaties for the company Swim Line. This was fun but a bit difficult to do in a dress! Secondly, I helped set up a table with all of the brands on it for pictures. I carefully placed each item down and covered the table with flowers. Next, I wrapped up any final decoration touches in the backyard and was sent to the front to assist with check in. Here I met many amazing people. During my time spent out front, a woman named Dana Patterson arrived. I instantly fell in love with her spunky personality and kind spirit. I gained so much insight and advice from her and walked around to introduce her to all the brands. Finally, I was in charge on taking photos of one of the company Voss Water. I ran into Rachel McCord and we had a blast doing a mini photo shoot of her and the water by the pool. Lastly, I also had the chance to talk to Annalyn McCord about her program Together One Heart and hopefully going on a mission group with her and her team! I am so blessed to have found this internship because it has really help me grow as a person and guide me along one of my career interests. It is hard work, but I love the experience and all the people involved. If you’re interested in a job, I definitely suggest interning to find out if it’s the right choice for you!
